Every year, I try to list at least one more thing I’m thankful for each Thanksgiving. With all that’s going on in the world and in our own country, it’s not always easy, but I find that taking the time to appreciate what we have is what Thanksgiving is all about. It helps me deal better with life’s sometimes unpleasant challenges and realize how truly fortunate I am.
- As always, I’m thankful for my wonderful wife Judy & family and their love & support. If I had nothing else they alone would make me a most fortunate man – 37+ years (and counting) and I’ve still got her fooled;
- I’m thankful that my health is good, my torn glute is pain-free and I can still walk the golf course. My game has even shown recent signs of recovery – fingers crossed;
- I’m thankful that my family and friends are (for the most part) happy, healthy and thriving and especially for those friends who’ve recovered or are on comebacks from health setbacks;
- I’m thankful for my friends, old and new who help fulfill my life and make it interesting.
- I’m thankful that my grandson Orsen, who turned 4 this month is healthy, happy and growing strong – hopefully we can all keep up with this busy little guy;
- I’m also thankful that Orsen seems to have an affinity for golf and I look forward to taking him out on the links;
- I’m thankful that my son Max and his bride Deborah are thriving as parents and professionally and building their life and family in a beautiful home in (nearby) suburbia, and Max’s new entrepenurial venture to promote improved mental health in the golf industry and beyond;
- I’m thankful that this year, Max & Deborah welcomed the newest member of our family, Solomon, to the party and that he is growing and thriving;
- I’m thankful that our daughter Ali is chasing her dreams as a lawyer in New York and truly making the world a better place;
- I’m thankful that our son Jack is thriving in the golf industry and getting to practice journalism in a good place and enjoying his work;
- I’m especially thankful to have watched our kids grow into mensches who “get it”;
- I’m thankful that Judy and I have been able to “be there” for friends, family and causes confronting various challenges;
- I’m thankful that we’ve been able to help others not as fortunate as we are in our own small way;
- I’m thankful for the advances of science & technology which positively impact our health and lives every day, despite the opposition to progress of many;
- I’m thankful for the fascinating clients and assignments we’ve been entrusted with, including some very prominent clubs and unique tasks;
- I’m thankful for having had the opportunity to coach high school golf this year and last and the relationships I’ve developed with some of our players. What a great experience!;
- I’m thankful for the continued ability to be active, play golf, exercise and for the great golf trip we took to Scotland this past summer (14 rounds in 8 days!). Planning to go again in 2025;
- I’m thankful for our nation’s democracy and hopeful that it survives the current tumult;
- I’m thankful that after 40+ years I still love my job and clients continue to have confidence in us and express appreciation for our efforts;
- I’m thankful that our Penn State Nittany Lion football team is doing well and poised to make the playoffs;
- I’m thankful for the ability to travel and see so many interesting places and meet interesting people;
- I’m thankful for our 3 awesome dogs, Camryn, Arnie and Millie who are always excited to see me come home and that Camryn is still bopping along at age 16+;
- I’m thankful for the food on my table and my wife’s AWESOME cooking;
- I’m thankful that when I encounter people who are nasty, mean and ill-willed that while often frustrating, I am able to feel empathy for them because they fail to experience true happiness because they’re spending so much time promulgating ill will. Life is too short!
